My name is NOUR EDDINE EL GHOUMARI. I am a self taught photographer from Morocco. I was born in Taza, a small and ancient town in the north east of Morocco. My interest in photography started about 12 years ago. I used mainly 35mm cameras. 5 years later, I bought my first medium format camera which was a Mamiya C330. All my films and pictures are developed and printed at home in my darkroom. Last year, I started doing a lot of my images digitally. I use mainly Photoshop for all my digital manipulation. I have held a few exhibitions in London, Egypt, Syria and Morocco. I have also won several awards most recent ones are the November 2004 Digital creative challenge organised by Digital Photo in the UK and the Gold award for the best Portrait in the first Arab-European contest in Germany. I have also won the Gold and Bronze awards in the second Arab-European contest September 2005. As you will see from most of my photographs, taking pictures of people is what stimulates me visually. The old and the vulnerable are mostly my subjects, as it is they who move my spirit and touch my inner soul with their interesting faces. These people's traditional costumes have not changed over time and the expressiveness of their gestures is full of life, honesty and hope. Do enjoy.
